Description
For sale is an antique violin I purchased over 20 years ago in Prague while teaching abroad with the University of Georgia. I do not know exactly how old it is, but there is a label on the inside (see photos) that states in German that it was repaired in 1932.I had it looked at by the head of the music department at the university who co-owns a musical instrument store in Atlanta. He had it looked at by his luthier who repairs violins, and was told that it would appraise for 00. It comes with the original bow that needs restringing plus a new bow. It also comes with the original case. This case is old and has some damage, but it is interesting in how unique it is. It has what appears to be alligator skin. I would not trust it to carry this precious instrument around, however, it will be great for shipping it.
This professor at UGA had one of his world renowned Phd students try it out and you can see the video of him playing it with the professor playing the guitar.
