Description
Violin was made by Christian Boelandt ( Johann Chriftian Bolandt violinmacher ) in approximately 1865 in Germany. It has had repairs done to it in recent years; restrung, chin rest replacement, and new bridge. It's in good condition, but does have some surface scratches and overall wear, likely needs to be tuned. It has a wonderful deep brown color and is a 4/4 (23").The bow has no marking on it but is in great condition, has been well taken care of, no rips of the hair or chips or cracks in the wood, it has a beautiful mother of pearl inlay on the finger grip.
The hard carry case is an antique as well, a Maulbetsch & Whittemore bulls head brand. In decent condition does have some wear on the outside and the leather handle is quite worn but still attached, the metal clasps still work and the inside is lined with a soft felt-like cloth, a piece that helps hold the bow in place has detached but could possibly be repaired.
The last pictures are done using an endoscope camera to take a picture of the labels on the inside. There's a white repair shop label done in 1908 in Toledo Ohio and the other label shows the original violin maker. It's not easy to read but it seems to say "Johann Chriftian Bolandt Violinmacher in Brundtebrah (?)". I may have some of the letters wrong as it is not easy to read.
