Description

Antique Emanuel F. Guerra full size 4/4 1720 Violin w/Coffin Case. No bow included.
This violin was made in 1720, according to the label made by the company that restored in in the early 20th century (the restoration label says MDCCXX which translates to 1720). This is a Stradivarius model. I don’t know anything about this maker. The violin appears to have been fully restored in the early 20th century and plays great, according a friend of mine who is a skilled violinist. He said this violin has a unique personality.
Visually, I would say whoever has made it was probably an armature violin maker (perhaps a guitar maker that once in a while tried to make violins, not sure). I strongly recommend taking it to a luthier to have it fine tuned and adjusted for the best performance. It comes without a bow in a black wooden coffin case. The case is in great condition, except for one of the pins on one of the latches missing a head (still functions really well). I don’t know when the case was made. Looks pretty vintage to me.
