perfect musician’s display piece / music shoppe window / antique string instrument collector / unknown luthier /
possibly used to make guitars, violins or even hurdy gurdys

hand made in layers as shown – some exterior veneer has come off over time therefore, one can see the strips of wood and how it was made
·
untouched antique patina – oiling / polishing / any restoration up to the end user
·
veneer might be mahogany? – colour seems right
·
smooth top / carved out of one piece with a slight curve to the topside and flat on the inside / nice fitting lid

part of the inset lift ring hardware has broken off as shown / old flat head rusty screws as shown

tiny droplets which looks like maybe, varnish droplets on the inside of lid a shown on last photo

two raised feet remain as shown – there are carved threads in the holes to screw in a type of wood dowel

normal age / usage
related / scuffs / bumps / usage wood cracks
- two areas at side edges have cut-outs as shown
·
measures:  20 ¾”L x 11”W (at widest point) x 4 ½”H
·
age to guesstimate:  late 1800s to early 1900s
·
needs some TLC to restore to its original state/ as is

quite heavy at over 8 LBS.
