    Description

    Authentic, signed Umberto Ceccherini Italian Mandolin #2055, dated 1881. Tortoise shell pick guard and tail piece. Mother of Pearl inlay on pickguard and fret markers as well as other decorative motifs on the body, bridge, neck, and headstock. Bowl back. All strings present, intact, and create beautiful resonant tones.  All tuners turn easily. Mandolin is in excellent and immediate playing condition.
    Interior, affixed maker's tag reads "Umberto Ceccherini, Fabbrica di Mandolini e Mandole, Napoli. Primiata all' Esposizioni di Milano, 1881. Sole agents: Alban Voigt & Co., 14 Edmund Place, London, E. C."  Signature and #2055 appears to be in pencil.
    Original leather case has damage with straps no longer attached, but are present. Seems the strapped side has taken most of the brunt over the years, but top and all sides are still intact.  Please look at photos closely.
    Dimensions are 24" x 5" x 6".
